Uncovering stories of Armenia – one print at a time.

Hi, I’m Nane! I was born and raised in Yerevan, Armenia, a city where history is everywhere—preserved, or fragmented. As a kid, I found school pretty dull, but art school was a different world. I never really learned to draw in the traditional sense, but that didn’t bother me. What excited me were the printing techniques we explored, especially linocut. Its bold lines and color contrast reflected how I visualized the world around me in my head.

I went on to study art history, earning two degrees in the field. I’ve always loved modern and contemporary art, but when it comes to my own work, I keep coming back to something older—Armenian art from the pre-Christian era and its echoes in modern times. That’s what inspires Linopatum.

“Patum” stands for the Armenian word “narrative”, “story”. And somehow, by an unknown urge, I strive to manifest the humble genius behind this neglected art language, which in reality has so much contribution to the medieval world art that I can’t help but talk about it through my prints.

This is my way of keeping those stories alive.
