I was born and raised in Yerevan, Armenia. As a kid, I entered an art school, which was more thrilling for than the ordinary public school. I never gained proper drawing skills, instead I was introduced to different printing techniques. Linocut was my favorite.
My two degrees are in art history, and even though I love modern and contemporary periods in world art, my main inspiration for Linopatum is pre-Christian and modern developments of the Armenian art.
“Patum” stands for the Armenian word “narrative”, “story”, and somehow, by unknown urge I thrive to manifest the humble genius behind this neglected art language, which in reality has so much contribution to the medieval world art, that I just can’t help but talk about it through my prints.
