LINOPATUM

Hand-printed linocuts and narratives from Armenia.

Hi there! I'm Nané!

I was born and raised in Yerevan, Armenia. As a child, I attended an art school, which was far more exciting than the ordinary public school. While I never really developed proper drawing skills, I was introduced to various printing techniques, of which linocut was my favorite.

My two degrees are in art history, and while I’m passionate about modern and contemporary periods in world art, my primary inspiration for Linopatum lies in the pre-Christian and modern developments of Armenian art.

“Patum” stands for the Armenian word “narrative”, “story”. Somehow, by unknown urge I thrive to manifest the humble genius behind this neglected art language, which in reality has so much contribution to the medieval world art, that I just can’t help but talk about it through my prints.

I love being on the road. My main job is tour guiding and I am ecstatic to feel that constant change, new roads, new people, sharing stories and emotions. I am a dog person, and if not the painful part of saying goodbye to them in such a short time, I would have had at least 30 dogs. If there is reincarnation, I would like to be a border collie.
